Create a peer-to-peer fundraiserHello,
My name is Mildred, and I am originally from Uganda but have been living in Ireland for the past four years as a missionary with NET Ministries. During my time on NET, I worked with youth and young adults all over the country, encouraging them to live Christ-centered lives.
However, my journey to this point has not been an easy one.
As a child, I experienced the devastating effects of physical, mental, and emotional abuse. The wounds inflicted upon me left deep scars that took years to heal. It wasn't until my adulthood, through the unwavering support of friends and family who built me up in faith, that I found the strength to forgive those who had hurt me.
My personal experience of abuse has shaped my passion and purpose. I am determined to study psychology to offer assistance to families in Uganda who are undergoing similar abuse that I endured as a child. I want to create awareness of the profound effects that different parenting styles can have on a child's psychological well-being. By equipping myself with a Degree in Psychology, I will be able to provide support and guidance to those who desperately need it.
During my time in Ireland, I have witnessed the transformative power of love and support. I came face to face with the profound struggles endured by many young individuals yearning for meaning and purpose in their lives. One particular encounter left an indelible mark on my heart. A young man, who suffered from alcoholism and addiction, passed down through generations, found himself entrapped in a web of self-deception. Burdened by feelings of isolation, worthlessness, and an inability to seek assistance, he was in dire need of love and support. Upon encountering this young man, I wanted to extend a hand of compassion to both him and his devoted girlfriend through this difficult period. Through their difficult journey, I witnessed their remarkable transformation. Today, they have completed their education, secured stable employment, and the young man stands as a beacon of hope in active recovery, lending his strength to others battling addiction. They are to get married at the end of this year.
This experience, amongst others, solidified my conviction to return to Ireland, driven by an unwavering determination to serve its young people. Though my visa compelled me to temporarily depart in 2022, I knew in my heart that my connection with Ireland was far from over.
Currently living in Donegal, alongside my community of NET, I have been accepted to study a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Maynooth University, starting in September 2023. My mission is to accompany individuals on their journey of emotional healing, empowering them to embrace lives of abundance. Rooted in my steadfast faith, I aspire to share the light of Christ-centered living and extend my formal knowledge in psychology to all those in need.
As a devoted missionary who has wholeheartedly served others for the past four years, my financial resources are limited, and I am humbly seeking your support in funding my pursuit of higher education. Your generosity and sponsorship would propel me closer to my dream, enabling me to make a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals.
