Brad McDowell has been a dedicated registered nurse since 2008, with extensive experience in direct patient care settings like the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Room. In January 2021, he took on a new role as an intake nurse at the Behavioral Health Unit at Winchester Medical Center, part of Valley Health in Virginia. However, his career took a sudden and unjust turn when Valley Health announced a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for continued employment.

Despite his heroic dedication to his patients and his adherence to safety protocols, Brad's request for a religious accommodation was denied twice, leading to his termination on September 22, 2021. This unjust action was taken despite Valley Health granting similar exemptions to other employees, highlighting a discriminatory attitude towards Brad’s religious beliefs.

Discriminatory Treatment

Brad's court filing shows clear evidence of Valley Health's discriminatory actions as his repeated requests for religious exemption were deemed invalid. This not only cost Brad his job but also caused significant personal and financial hardship.

Since 2022 local attorneys in Front Royal, Virginia have been representing Brad, diligently working to ensure his rights are upheld. While Brad's attorneys have been unwavering in their determination, the legal fight against such injustice comes with substantial costs.
