Raising money for the Tardiff family

The Tardiff Family is in urgent need of support.  After almost a year of difficult and debilitating health issues, the father has lost his job.  Recently the family discovered through professional inspectors the presence of harmful and dangerous mold in the attic and crawl spaces that needs to be remediated immediately.  It is hopeful that removing this and installing proper ventilation in those areas will help the overall safety of the home, however the family faces financial difficulty with these repairs and the possibility of relocation for the health of the entire family.  It is incredibly difficult for them to imagine this situation when the father is without work and trying to regain his health.  Financial help for the father to continue treatments for his health and for their housing and living needs during this challenging time is greatly appreciated!

May good St. Joseph come to their aid and if you are inspired to assist them, may God reward you abundantly!

***UPDATE:  February 19, 2025***

We are so incredibly grateful for all of the kind support thus far for the Tardiff Family.  I wanted to share an update with everyone that Agatha asked me to post.  At the end of the post are the results from the environmental professionals showing the elevated levels of many different molds in the house.

“Thank you all so much for your generosity and most especially for your prayers! It all means so much to us! You and your intentions are in our daily prayers!

The last 4 months have been a waiting game; waiting for Kester Clear environmental professionals to do an assessment on our house and waiting for the test results to come back and do the phone follow up appointment with Kester Clear.

So, at the end of January we finally had a picture of the situation of our house and unfortunately much worse than we anticipated. The back of the house is graded wrong, so water is pooling next to the foundation and seeping through the basement walls and mold is growing on all the foundational walls of the basement. The black mold spore count for the basement is 75, when 5 and over is dangerous.

There is no vapor barrier on the slab, so mold is growing underneath the carpets. There is mold growing in the basement ceiling from a leaking pipe that must have been dripping for years and on closer examination, it had been spray painted and the ceiling tiles appear to be asbestos.

Upstairs behind the dishwasher and cabinets is mold damage and there are several leaks with water damage and leaks in the upstairs bathroom.

It is so unfortunate for a house that cost over half a million dollars in October 2022 to have had these problems, but God's ways are not our ways. The recommendation from the mold professionals is to throw away most of our things.  Some things can be saved, but must be thoroughly cleaned in a special solution.

Just last week, a friend was able to get us a house rental for the month of February. We are so grateful! Since being in the rental, John's health is already greatly improving. He is sleeping more at night and able to keep food and liquids down so far.

Since he was very young, he has been allergic to penicillin. When it was given to him, his throat started to close. Over the last couple of years at the house, John has struggled with his throat and gagging which led to vomiting. While at the hospital last weekend, they found John's lung capacity was only at 40% and he was not digesting his food. He has a good natural clinic he started going to last week, and we are hopeful he can improve.

Our plan at the moment is to clean out our house, put it on the market, and sell it as is. Hopefully after we pay off the mortgage, we can get some cash with which to rent and get John's health back.

However we do need some funds to hold us over until we sell our house, to pay for the short term rental and help with John's health expenses. One day, God willing, in heaven, we won't need any more money, but until then we are so so grateful for the help of our friends and family and fellow Catholics.”

God bless you!  Agatha and John and family

***UPDATE:  November 6th***

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, prayed for, and helped spread the word for this fundraiser!  The Tardiffs are incredibly grateful for your support to help them through this challenging time.

The past two weeks brought some hope in diagnosing more in depth the problems in the home in order that they can be remediated, but this always presents a challenge while the family is living in the home as the process of removing the mold can make the spores more airborne and aggravate symptoms.  Therefore, the family is seriously looking into possibilities for relocating at least temporarily while repairs are being completed.

In speaking to Agatha, she was able to give me a breakdown of current costs as they are estimated at this time:

Initial cleanup of mold in attic and crawl spaces:  $2,200

Repair costs of attic ventilation system:  $2,000

In-depth test from Kesterclear mold removal company:  $2,100

Mold removal and remediation throughout the house:  $20,500 +

Floor, wall, and tile renovations in bathrooms and basement:  $10,000 +

Treatments for John and the family's health:  $5,000 +

Living expenses and mortgage payments/temporary relocation: $10,000

In addition, there may be unforeseen costs in the renovation process or with health treatments, but we've estimated as we're able for the moment.  Thus you can see that all support is so greatly appreciated by the family.

Thank you again so much, and be assured of prayer and gratitude for your kindness towards the Tardiff Family!
