Mother Mary Joseph Needs Your Help

Mother Mary Joseph Calore, S.S.C.J., Provincial Superior of the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, commonly known as the Sacred Heart Sisters, is seeking to enlist financial support as they have been hit with a series of multiple unexpected events and expenses that have completely depleted their savings.

On November 18, 2023, Sr. Augustine Marie Molnar, 43, was killed in an automobile accident while traveling to an event promoting vocations.  Sr. Augustine Marie was a critical member of staff at the Sisters’ John Paul II Manor, caring for elderly in Cresson, Pennsylvania and her absence has been deeply felt.

In the Spring of 2024, the Sisters’ insurer cancelled their property owner’s insurance on the Provincial House without warning following an unannounced drone over their roof despite the Sisters’ assurances that the roof would be replaced if needed.  The cost of the project has amounted to over $60,000.00.

It has recently come to light that the Sisters’ novitiate property in Loretto, Pennsylvania is also in need of two major repairs: a new roof on a caretaker’s home located on the property and a new well that needs to be dug as the well has literally run dry!  There are also needed repairs at their novitiate and affiliate houses.

The Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, founded in Krakow, Poland in 1894 by St. Joseph Sebastian Pelczar and Blessed Klara Szczesna, have faithfully ministered to the people of God in the United States since 1959, with their province now based in Cresson, Pennsylvania.  Their Sisters ministered to the late St. Pope John Paul II as his office aides and household staff and were present at his deathbed.

The Sisters of the U.S. Province, 25 in Total, 22 perpetually professed Sisters, 2 Novices, and two anticipating entrance, are devoted to extending the Kingdom of Love of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through prayer, community life and apostolic work in the areas of: Teaching, Catechesis, Music Ministry, Nursing, Personal Care, Parish Work, Retreats, Youth Ministry, Prison Ministry, and Missionary Work.  The Sisters of the province minister in the Dioceses of: Altoona-Johnstown, Buffalo, Columbus, Grand Rapids, and Mandeville, Jamaica, West Indies.
